Punjab Government’s Eco-Friendly Electric Taxi & Employment-Generating Initiative
The Government of Punjab has announced a new Electric Taxi Scheme starting in August 2025. The initiative aims to reduce environmental pollution and create employment opportunities across the province.
🔹 Key Highlights of the Scheme:
- Total Vehicles: 1100 electric taxis
- Zero Markup: Interest-free installments
- Government Support: Covers markup, registration fee, and token tax
- Fleet Owners: 1000 taxis for fleet investors (minimum 10 vehicles required)
- Individual Applicants: 100 taxis reserved
- Women Empowerment: 30 out of 100 individual taxis reserved for women drivers
🚗 Partner Companies:
Nine electric vehicle companies will participate in this scheme. They will also establish charging stations and service centers to ensure smooth operations and maintenance.
🖥️ How to Apply:
- Applications will be collected via a dedicated online portal.
- The platform is being developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB).
- Applications will open in August 2025.
